Lunch starts at 12:00 noon, with the meeting officially beginning at 12:30 PM. The first half-hour includes business and announcements, followed by a speaker or program from 1:00 to 1:30 PM. If you wish to attend, please contact us by noon the preceding Sunday at: ws_rotary@yahoo.com . If you wish to be considered for membership, lunch is complimentary, otherwise the cost is $25.

March 18: Roger Evans, Washington State Black Legacy Institute
The Washington State Black Legacy Institute located at 656 42nd Ave. SW in West Seattle. Roger will discuss the Institute's history and mission, as well as its collection of immersive and educational exhibits focused on Black heritage and history. We also hope to learn of the meaning of the word "griot."
March 25: Barbara McChesney - End Plastic Soup
Rotarian Barbara McChesney, President of the Rotary Club of Windsor, California. chair of the environmental committee for District 5130, and regional board member of End Plastic Soup. End Plastic Soup is a global environmental project supported by thousands of Rotarians and partners around the world. The focus of the presentation will address the pressing issue of plastic pollution including the impacts on climate change, environmental pollution and degradation, and the growing impacts on human and animal health. Did you know for example that we produce 400 million tons of plastic annually and less than 10% is recycled? The rest ends up in landfills, incinerators, or polluting our natural habitats. You will learn how plastic pollution represents a stark symbol of our modern excess

April 22: Congressman Brian Baird (Ret) - National Museum and Center for Service ("NMCFS")
Former US congressman, Brian Baird is the founder and chair of the national Museum and Center for Service (NMCFS). Baird’s vision for the NMCFS was inspired by his experiences traveling to difficult parts of the world and seeing Americans help others. He wanted to honor the spirit of service and all of its forms with a place to celebrate every day people who serve their communities, the nation, and the world. The National Museum and Center for Service will be established near the National Mall in Washington DC.
Baird served as a US Representative for Washington’s third congressional district from 1999 to 2011.
