Dr. Tanya Shah will describe her work as a volunteer physician in Gaza — the conditions she found there, and the ways in which Rotary and ShelterBox are helping to alleviate human suffering in that area.

Tanya Shah is a board-certified family medicine physician practicing as a locum tenens clinician in critical access hospitals across the United States, working in emergency, inpatient, and ICU settings. She teaches point-of-care ultrasound and hospital-based procedures nationwide and has worked internationally with Médecins Sans Frontières, including building ICU capacity in Eswatini, and subsequently worked with PAMA (Palestinian American Medical Association) providing care in Gaza during an active conflict. Shortly after returning from Gaza, she became critically ill and was intubated for two weeks — an experience that now informs her perspective on medicine from both sides of the bed.
